My Opinion on MoLHR’s regulation on Employee Selection and Recruitment Process

The Ministry of Labour and Human Resources has launched the regulation on recruitment and selection process as the guidelines to employees and job seekers. How effective will it be is yet to be seen. In Bhutan, most Public Corporations are run by Family & Friends. Out of 300 employees in one of the corporations in Bhutan, the rough estimate of insider show that the families and friends recruitment employees constitute roughly 80 percent of the total employees of the company. The other 20 percent who managed to break through the chain shall be victimized in many different ways. Since it is run by family and friends, the internal vacancies which are tailored made shall be announced. A guy from family and friends shall be selected and placed at unbelievably high grade in through so-called open competition. The hardworking employees without backing from Family and Friends shall be given regular or double promotion as an eye wash for unflinching hard work but the hardworking guy wo...

Trongsa Dzong and Choetse Penlop

The Trongsa Dzong was founded by Pal Ngagi Wangchuk as the monastery as prophesied by Palden Lhamo, the guardian deity of Bhutan. Later it became the seat of Choetse Penlop after the appointment of Chhogyal Minjure Tenpa as the first Choetse penlop by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1647. In 1646, fifty two years old Ngawang Namgyel has succeeded in unifying the western Bhutan under his theocratic rule. He felt that the Trongsa by virtue of being in strategic location would play crucial role in bringing centre and eastern Bhutanmunder theocratic rule and the in the process unifying the whole country. Zhabdrung found ideal person in Chogyal Minjur Tenpa who had unquestionable loyalty and integrity who could bring feudal lords of Sharcho Khorlo Tsipgay under rule of Zhabdrung. Taking the unification of eastern Bhutan as good omen, Minjure Tenpa built the so-called Druk Minjure Choekhor Rabten Tse Dzong in 1644 as commanded by Zhadrung Ngawang Namgyel. The structures and extra bui...

Letter To Author of GK of Bhutan

Dear Author, First of all, I would like to congratulate you on publishing the General knowledge book. As I am a regular  reader of  books written by Bhutanese a uthors, I bought your book from Pekhang Enterprise and read first four sections (ie a, b, c & d) of your book.   I don’t claim to know the history of Bhutan, and by no means I am writing this letter to criticize this book. I just would like to clarify my doubts. Firstly, The Q&A on Guru Rinpoche created confusion in my mind instead of clarifying . In the section b-a, the question is,’when was the king Thri-song Deo-tsen born?’ and the section b-13 asks, ‘when was the 36 th Dharma King Thrisong Deutsen born?’. The answer is 742 A.D and 682 A.D respectively. Now, my confusion is; are they two different historical figures? Or are they the same figure. While I believe that there shall be some inconsistencies in date, but it should be the job of author to harmonize the date. If you consider the first da...

Encounter with People from NHK- No Happiness Kingdom

After two weeks of no communication, I decided to my call wannabe politician and gonna-be bureaucrat friend Ugyen for cup of lukewarm coffee (well, restaurant always sell lukewarm coffee) and chitchat. We had a half an hour chitchat discussing various issues of politics, philosophies, life and books, as we always do, in Yeewong Resturant which is his favourite place for hang out because of the beautiful counter girl. By the way, to my friend, it seemed rotten food serve by this beautiful girl with luscious body is always better than tasty food from some ugly ladies. Anyway, I am just kidding as I don’t want to suffer his Napoleon-oriented wrath.   Over the cup of coffee(if you don’t want to call modified water), he told me that in the capacity of Literary Secretary at Royal Institute of Management, he has   conducted the Quiz and Debate competition   that have not many takers among trainees. He bemoaned the fact that some of the to-be-bureaucrats cannot recall the ...

Random Feelings on God’s Wisdom

If God gives me whatever I ask   I will choose to replace him   Some may choose to be his boss And others may choose to kill him. Thus He sits on His grand Heaven Choosing the boon and bane to grant So that people can strive hard To gain the full potential This lies innate in us unused Like a coral wasted under ancient African feet. If God is to be visible like a politician I may have spit on his face Accusing him of favoritism and nepotism Some may have shot him For non-performance of his task And feeding on people’s prayer Like an ogre in the land of Lilliputians. But God is clever one whoever he is Getting credit for good things He doesn’t do Shifting blames of his failure as our own.   If God were to be changed with public votes In the system called democracy, He would have been ousted ages ago Right now, He would be begging for votes And thrown His blessings like corrupt lead...
