Royal Institute of Management starts class for post graduate trainee officers

February 3, 2013 The honeymoon for RCSC selected candidates are over. The class commenced this morning with introduction of subject by concerned lecturers as per timetable of the institute in all three courses.  In Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration category, Mr Tshering Wangdi and Ms  Tashi Tshomo  were appointed as class representatives. Both the representatives were elected through yes or no votes through the show of hands as there were no contenders. Both the elected representatives solicited the class cooperation  for various upcoming activities in the calender years.  At the same time, Programme Assistant distributed secret identity code that is necessary for evaluation with favour by lecturer.

Royal Institute of Management inaugurates Library and IT Centre

Just a day after welcoming of new batch of post graduates diploma students into RIM Family on 2nd February 2013, another big event in calendar history of RIM was the inauguration of Library and IT Center of the Institute. The inauguration was blessed with the presence of Her Royal Highness Ashi Sonam Dechen Wangchuk as the chief guest. In the inauguration, Minister for Education Thakur Singh Powdyel and Minister for Information and Communication Mr Nandala Rai, Foreign Dignitaries and RIM Board of Directors were present. The inauguration and Rabney was followed by various dance performances by Diploma students of the institute. It was ended with special lunch for the trainees. The centre is built with financial assistance of Royal Government of India. The centre is has four computers labs, one video conferencing hall and online data bases. It also houses more than 22000 books.

Detoriating Freedom of Expression in Bhutan?

Bhutanese media made a mountain out of anthill regarding downhill journey of freedom of expression in Bhutan. Some media houses made comments on how Bhutan is heading to autocracy from monarchy. As an educated and citizen of this great nation, I don’t share the concern of media houses at all. The media houses whine so much of freedom of expression while many forget the responsibility of expression. They often forget that freedom of expression always has reasonable constraints differing in each country based on socio-political nature of the country. The media feels that they are being victimized by various steps undertaken by the state especially selective media advertising scheme of government while they forget their papers aren’t worthy to receive taxpayers’ money both in terms of quality as well as circulation.   All they grumble is about dwindling revenue pie which most thought was their birthright. Student Once Again and At RIM

There is no limit for education, says one of the great men (assuming I will be one day). But if when you are twenty eight, a father of one, ex-corporate employee who is becoming student to get job in civil service at entry level, one feels the pressure of age frying up your very sinew. Reading novels, newspapers or any thesis doesn’t make you feel old but being at an institute where learning is formalized, where rules are drafted as if for children and where you are among your three to four years junior makes you conspicuously feel aged and out of place.
